Matthijs Geerts
is a pianist and composer from The Netherlands. He is a highly in-demand session player that plays among others with GREYHEADS, Marutyri & DESH. He just released his debut CD called ‘Lost in Reverse’.

Only a few jazz players have experienced the evolution that pianist and composer Matthijs Geerts did. Captivated by dazzlingly fast runs, harmonic structure and atmospheric sounds he created a new idiom that he describes as ‘Contemporary jazz in its most hybrid form’

This new sound, that blends acoustic and electric elements seamlessly, he recorded on a CD together with his All Star band consisting of Thomas Pol (double bass) Michiel Stekelenburg (guitar) Jesse Schilderink (saxophone) and Davy Andy Henket (drums).

Lost in Reverse has been streamed 100,000+ times since its release on October 15 and has been broadcasted on Radio 2 and Sublime FM. His unique and stylistical approach of playing truly makes him a pianist of the next generation.
