“What better way to express these wishes than to write and send a postcard, but this postcard is written with the music and songs from Celtic Woman’s latest album.”

"Postcards from Ireland" features 13 brand new songs and is the group’s first new studio album since 2018’s Ancient Land. It features new arrangements of beautiful and iconic songs including “The Dawning of the Day,” “Wild Mountain Thyme,” “The Galway Shawl” and “Black is the Color” among others.

“We welcome back Chloë for a stunning version of ‘Angel,’ Megan Walsh and Tara McNeill duet on ‘The Lakes of Pontchartrain,’ and Susan McFadden performs the haunting ‘May it Be.’ The album also introduces newest member Muirgen O’Mahony, and includes a performance by British folk group The Longest John’s who join Celtic Woman on a version of Richard Thompson’s ‘Beeswing,’” the press release added.

“Following the album release, PBS will air the accompanying TV Special in North America across 60-plus PBS local stations. Filmed on location in 14 beautiful and iconic locations around the island of Ireland, this 80 minute TV special showcases the beautiful landscapes of Ireland as Celtic Woman perform their brand-new compositions and arrangements, plus some fan favorites.

Als Celtic Woman im Dezember 2006 das erste Mal in Deutschland gastierten, war das irische Frauenquartett noch keine zwei Jahre am Start und dennoch benötigte die junge Karriere zur Beschreibung schon Superlative. Die vier Vollblutmusikerinnen verbindet ihre leidenschaftliche Liebe zu keltischen Liedtraditionen, die sie mit New Age, Elementen aus Folk und Klassik, Inspirationen aus Film und Musical sowie jeder Menge Herzblut sensibel zu einem magischen Ganzen verschmelzen.

Gleich das Debüt "Celtic Woman" erlangte die Nr.1 in den Billboard World Music Charts und löste nach 68 Wochen den bisherigen Rekordhalter Andrea Bocelli ab. Erst als Celtic Woman ihr zweites Nummer 1-Album veröffentlichten und die Poleposition erreichten, ging das Debüt auf Platz 2. Schließlich landeten 2007 ihre zwei Alben auf den Plätzen 2 und 3, weil ihr drittes Nummer 1-Werk erschien.

Inzwischen stehen Celtic Woman für zehn erfolgreiche Jahre mit über acht Millionen verkauften Ton- und Bildträgern. Ihr Erfolg hat dabei viele Väter. Der authentische Umgang mit ihrer weltumspannenden Musik. Gefühlvolle Melodien, intime Momente – mit der Gabe, Pathos von Kitsch zu trennen. Ihre emotionalen Lieder über Liebe, Verlust, Hoffnung und Inspiration lassen Bilder im Kopf entstehen, können Trost spenden und Mut machen.

Eine Basis, die auch für das neue Album "Destiny" steht. Erneut wandeln Celtic Woman auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen gut dosierter Romantik, ergreifenden Melodien und sensiblen Songwriting. Auf der Habenseite steht auch die hohe Musikalität des Quartetts. Máiréad Nesbitt spielt ihr Instrument nicht nur, sie spricht durch die Geige – sie seufzt, singt, lacht – und haftet sich an die Synapsen jeder Gefühlsregung. Gepaart mit den engelsgleichen Gesängen von Susan McFadden, Máiread Carlin und Éabha McMahon, die sowohl solistisch als auch im Satzgesang faszinieren, entsteht ein Sound, der die Weiten der grünen Insel spürbar macht.

Kernstück des neuen Albums ist der Song "Tir Na Nog", ein Duett mit der deutschen Künstlerin Oonagh, die eine bespiellose Karriere hingelegt hat: in nur zwei Jahren erhielt sie Gold- und Platinauszeichnungen sowie zwei ECHOs. In dem gemeinsamen Lied vereinen sie ihre musikalischen Welten und profitieren von der Magie des jeweils anderen.

"Destiny" hat alles, was ein Celtic Woman-Album haben muss. Neben dem fröhlichen, tanzbaren Duett gibt es eine Reihe von Irish Folk-Klassikern und Traditionals wie "How I Can Keep From Singing", "Sometimes A Prayer Will Do" und "Hills Of Ireland". Songs wie der Opener "My Land" und "Siúil A Rúin" entführen in eine andere Welt, stehen für Besinnung und Innehalten. Es gibt Hits jüngeren Datums wie Ed Sheerans "I See Fire" aus dem "Hobbit"-Soundtrack und "Skyrim" aus dem gleichnamigen, populären Videospiel, die in den Versionen von Celtic Woman genauso wie die Popklassiker "The Whole Of The Moon" von den Waterboys und "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" von Abba zu akustischen Seelenschmeichlern werden. Das Album schließt mit den Weihnachtsliedern "Oh Tannenbaum" und "Silent Night", die einmal mehr ins Herz zielen.
