"Dreamland" - Der britische Pianist Alexis Ffrench gestaltet eine Traumwelt der Pianoklänge! Mit seinem einzigartigen Stil, geprägt durch die Kombination aus Klassik, Roots Music und R&B, landete Alexis Ffrench im Jahr 2018 mit seinem Sony Music-Debütalbum "Evolution" auf Anhieb in den Top 30 der UK Pop-Albumcharts und erreichte zugleich auch Platz #1 der Klassikcharts. Mit über 1,5 Millionen monatlichen Hörerinnen und Hörern gehört er seitdem zu den meist-gestreamten Pianisten der Gegenwart.

Auf "Dreamland" präsentiert Alexis Ffrench Pianokompositionen voll raffinierter Melodien, die er zu farbenreichen Arrangements verdichtet, in dem er sie in eine helle Klangwolke aus elektronischen Elementen, Chorpassagen oder die einfühlsamen Streicherklänge des Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra bettet. Mit dabei sind als Gastsolisten die nicht zuletzt durch ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Hans Zimmer bekannte US-amerikanische Cellistin Tina Guo oder der Grammy-Gewinner und Saxofonist Tim Garland, wie auch der Gitarrist Graham Devine oder die Harfistin Cecilia de Maria.

Mit "Dreamland" möchte Alexis Ffrench eine Auszeit aus dem hektischen Alltag für seine Hörer gestalten, eine verträumte Klangwelt und einen musikalischen "safe haven" anbieten. "In writing the album, Dreamland, I wanted to shine a light in times of darkness as an antidote to our troubled times; to give listeners an opportunity to stop, listen and breathe, if only for one three minute track." Viele von Ffrenchs Melodien, die eher an geschmackvolle Hook-lines in Pop-Songs erinnern, entstehen intuitiv. Er pflegt ein Notizbuch voller spontaner musikalischer Ideen, aus denen er im Nachhinein seine Stücke entwickelt. Inspiration findet er nicht nur in der Klassik, sondern auch hörbar im HipHop und Soul, bei Stevie Wonder oder Bob Marley. All diese Einflüsse verbindet er in seiner Musik zu einem genre-übergreifenden Mix, mit dem er ein pop-affines Millionen-Publikum fasziniert. UK contemporary composer and pianist Alexis Ffrench is one of the UK’s most distinctive and relevant artists. Alexis is already an established star in the streaming world - his music speaking to a wide audience and transcending all boundaries and genres. As likely as one would be to find him listening to Kendrick Lamar or Chance the Rapper as Bach, his combination of classical training and love for R&B and Roots music has helped define his unique sound. Trying to break the rigorous and academic preconceptions of classical music, Alexis has now found himself as one of the leading voices of a new wave of composers, redefining the genre made accessible by Ludovico Einaudi and Michael Nyman. Inspired in his youth by icons such as Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, Alexis felt destined to pursue a career in music, but without a piano at home, he first developed his skills by silently playing the dining room table. He didn’t allow the absence of an instrument to hold him back, and is an alumnus of the most prestigious music institutions in the country: Purcell School of Music, Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
