"Twin Paradox", das Debüt des Komponisten und Pianisten Loran Witteveen, der das Amsterdamer Konservatorium mit summa cum laude abgeschlossen hat, offenbart ein faszinierendes Hörerlebnis nach einem Gedankenexperiment von Albert Einstein. Witteveen (Gewinner der Dutch Jazz Competition) setzt sich mit der Zeit und ihrer Relativität auseinander. Inspiriert von Zwillingsparadoxon kreiert er mit signifikanter Handschrift zwölf Stücke, die Komposition und Improvisation in einer von Witteveen neu entwickelten Technik ineinander verflechten. Mit Clemens van der Feen (bass) und Tristan Renfrow (drums), die zu den beeindruckendsten Musikern der holländischen Szene zählen, realisiert er diese Aufnahme in Idealbesetzung. Musik im Spannungsfeld von Komposition und Improvisation, von Boulez und Bley, Schönberg und Coltraine, Roslawez und Taborn.

Loran Witteveen
(1988) is a pianist, composer and educator based in the Hague. Besides composing for and playing with his own trio he is an active sideman in various projects with musicians from all over Europe.
In November 2019 his debut album Twin Paradox will be released on the renowned Winter and Winter record label.
Loran received different prizes and distinctions, including the soloist prize at the Keep an Eye international competition 2014, first prize at the Dutch Jazz Competition 2014 and was selected to do the Young VIP tour in 2015 and the CrissCross Europe tour in 2016. He played in numerous venues throughout Europe including: De Bimhuis, North Sea Jazz Festival, Porgy&Bess Vienna, the A-train Berlin and others.
Since 2017 Loran is teaching jazz piano at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam.
