Ray Chen 'The Golden Age'

The Golden Age showcases works from the “golden age” of the violin, with arrangements / transcriptions by Kreisler and Heifetz around a centerpiece of the magnificent Bruch concerto. Including 3 tracks with Ray’s string quartet “Made In Berlin” – an exciting chamber music string collective made up exclusively of members of the Berlin Philharmonic. Solo and quartet pieces were recorded in November in Berlin. The Bruch Concerto was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra / Robert Trevino in August 2018. 'The Golden Age' is Ray Chen's first recording on Decca Classics since signing to the label last year. A musician of “phenomenal talent” (Washington Post), Ray Chen has handpicked a selection of works for his new album which celebrate the ‘golden age’ of the violin – not only in terms of repertoire, but also in performance style and ingenuity. The centrepiece is Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto, performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Robert Trevino and recorded in August last year.
