Biography Skipper Wise

Skipper Wise
During an interview just recently, with a reporter who was familiar with Skipper Wise's varied musical career he was asked, If you could push a magic button and make any type of music you wanted what would you be doing? His immediate answer was the follow up to his solo vocal release The Clock and the Moon which yielded the successful single "Standing Outside in the Rain".

In fact stated Skipper, "I have the album already done. All through the last six or seven years I have constantly been recording my vocal songs. I never stopped even though I have been writing and producing other albums for my group Colour Club on JVC and the successful contemporary jazz group Windows. It was an unfortunate turn of events that led to a follow up album never being released. I was on the Cypress label, a division of A&M records in the United States. The label went out of business, and right around that time I was offered a great deal with Les Pierce to record on JVC as Colour Club. Les had a successful string of records out, producing and writing for Take Six & Earth Wind and Fire to name a few, and I felt I should keep busy. JVC also allowed me to continue recording and writing with my jazz group Windows so a solo record deal was out of the question, until now." Finished with all his obligations, Skipper has pushed that magic button. Here for the first time are 7 new songs back with some rare tracks that have been remixed and a couple of favorites all on one album simply titled Walking On A Wire.

Co-produced by Columbia recording artist Peter White, Skipper has assembled an album of songs that are a personal reflection of life. Songs such as the ballad "You Mean Everything" where Skipper sings to a troubled friend "Where I Began" a look of childhood memories, and "Till I Find You" a song with the romantic sound and musical productions that became the trademark that forged this singer / songwriter's career.

One of the rarities included here is the song "Play Your Guitar For Me". Originally released on Peter White's #1 contemporary Jazz album in the United States, it has been remixed in both single and dance versions. As a bonus included on the album is "Standing Outside in the Rain", Skipper's successful single, featured here in it's original form. "I hope everyone just once in their life gets to push a magic button, and follow their destiny, even if it's only for a short moment," says Skipper. Well even if that moment is a short one, it is a nice chance to see an artist such as Skipper Wise share it with us in his songs.
