Henry Vieuxtemps, berühmt für seine zutiefst romantischen Violinkonzerte, revolutionierte das Violinspiel im 19. Jahrhundert. Sein treuer Schüler Eugene Ysaye bezeichnete das Werk seines Lehrers als »einen Schatz, den man um jeden Preis bewahren muss« und »der in seiner Gesamtheit bekannt sein sollte«. Der zweihundertste Geburtstag von Vieuxtemps im Jahr 2020 bietet eine ideale Gelegenheit, verloren gegangene und oft unveröffentlichte Manuskripte aus der Familie des Komponisten wiederzufinden. Zu diesen wiederentdeckten Kostbarkeiten gehört die Uraufführung der Fantasie für Stimme, Violine und Orchester, die hier in einem Klavierauszug präsentiert wird, ein erstaunliches Werk, in dem sich die Stimme, die die Erinnerungen des Komponisten in einer wortlosen Vokalise heraufbeschwört, um die Noten der Violine legt.

Vilmos Csikos
(born 1996) was born in Budapest (Hungary). In 2001 he moved to Belgium where he started to play violin two years later at the age of 7 at the Tchaikovsky Music School with Mr. Igor Tkatchouk. He has continued his violin studies with Mr. Yossif Ivanov at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

In recent years Vilmos has received numerous prizes at national and international competitions. In March 2004 he won his first competition at the Didier Nowe Contest in Brussels. One year later he was awarded 1st Prize and gold medal at the European Competition for Young Soloists (UGDA) in Luxembourg and in May 2006 he received 3rd Prize at the Kocian Violin Competition in Czech Republic. In 2007 he even won three 1st Prizes at the ‘FLAME’ in Paris, the ‘Postacchini’ in Italy and the ‘Remember Enescu’ in Sinaia (Romania). The following year he became first Prize winner at the ‘Bravo!’ competition in Brussels and second Prize winner again at the Kocian Violin Competition in Czech Republic. In the following two years he was awarded four more 1st Prizes at the ‘FLAME’ in Paris (May 2009), the ‘Rotary Breughel’ in Brussels (April 2010), the ‘Cavatina’ in Namur (Belgium, May 2010) and the European Competition for Young Soloists in Luxembourg (November 2010). At Belfius Classics in November 2011, he received 1st Prize. He won 2nd Prize at the Henri Koch Violin Competition in Liège (Belgium, October 2013) and 3rd Prize at the Louis Spohr Violin Competition in Weimar (November 2013). In October 2015, He won 1st Prize at the « Young Belgian Talent » Competition. In July 2016, he was invited as a soloist and a chamber musician to the “Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander” in Spain. In this festival, he had opportunity to share the stage with world reknowned artists like Péter Csaba, Hansjörg Schellenberger and Krzysztof Penderecki.

In addition to his participations in competitions Vilmos also has taken part in master classes with Augustin Dumay, Eyal Shiloach, Joshua Epstein, Katalin Sebestyén, Péter Csaba, Michel Béroff, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Alexander Rudin, Nobuko Imai, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Mihaela Martin and Zakhar Bron and has given concerts. He has collaborated with the Ensemble Orchestral ‘Young Soloists’ from Belgium, the chamber orchestra Aria, the Youth Academy Symphony Orchestra « Slobozhanskiy », the orchestra of The LISZT School of Music Weimar, The Brussels Sinfonietta and The Euregio Jeugdorkest (EJO).
