Futuristisches Fusion-Wunderwerk des jungen britischen Pianisten mit Features von US-Stars wie Randy Brecker, Frank Gambale oder Barry Finnerty. Benjamins zweites Album folgt seinem von der Kritik gefeierten Debüt „10 Reasons To....“. „Ich bin unglaublich stolz auf dieses Album.

Es ist ein wahres Portrait meines musikalischen Verstandes. Meine Liebe zu Jazz, Rock und Klassik sind hier alle eingefangen“, sagt Benjamin. „Die elf Kompositionen auf diesem Album repräsentieren meine Kindheitsträume und Fantasien. Utopisch und dystopisch, Helden und Schurken – alles ist dargestellt. Konzepte, die ich als weit und fern betrachtete. “Far and Distant Things featuret einige große Gaststars aus den USA: Randy Brecker, Allen Vizzutti (Trompete), Frank Gambale, Barry Finnerty, Mike Miller (Gitarre) und Chad Wackerman (Schlagzeug).

Außerdem sind Benjamins britische Lieblingsmusiker zu hören: Andy Davies (Trompete), Gareth Lockrane (Flöte), Henry Thomas und Flo Moore (Bass), Tristan Mailliot und Laurie Lowe (Schlagzeug) sowie Helen Vollam, Soloposaunistin des BBC Symphony Orchestra, und Carter Arrington (Gitarre).

Das einzigartige Artwork für das Album stammt von Juno-Preisträger Hugh Syme, der für Rush, Dream Theater, Whitesnake und viele andere gearbeitet hat. Das Album ist eine Hommage an den Schauspieler Peter Miles.

Benjamin Croft
is a British keyboardist and composer who has recorded with Randy Brecker, Frank Gambale, Chad Wackerman, Allen Vizzutti, Barry Finnerty and Mike Miller. Known for his extensive knowledge and experience in a multitude of music genres, he is mostly associated with jazz.

At the age of 7, he began piano and trumpet lessons, later going on to study at Leeds College of Music.

After graduating, he completed several contracts on international cruise lines and moved to the US. During this period, he toured the world twice, and worked with artists as diverse as Belinda Carlisle, Leslie Garrett, The Temptations and The Platters.

Benjamin relocated to London in 2012, where he became a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Cafe, Dean St and The Pheasantry Pizza Express Jazz Clubs, The Vortex, among others, playing with the finest musicians on the scene. He has also performed in the West End Show ’ Straight From the Heart’, and on TV shows such as ‘The Voice’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. In 2018, he recorded for Beautiful South founder Dave Hemingway’s latest project ’Sunbirds', and has been working as a session musician, composer and arranger on several projects over the years.

In March 2019, Benjamin released his first album ‘10 Reasons To...’ on 33Jazz Records. 12 original compositions reflecting his unique style and sound ; an audacious crossover between genres that seduced the press, and the public. His second album, "Far and Distant Things", was recorded throughout 2020. An ambitious project featuring legendary musicians from the US and more. It will be released on Ubuntu Music on August, 6th 2021.
