Das französische Jazz-Sextett Asynchrone interpretiert das Repertoire des legendären Komponisten Ryuichi Sakamoto neu. Als Fans des Maestros begann das französische Free Jazz/Electro-Kollektiv Asynchrone im Jahr 2020, sich mit seinem Werk auseinanderzusetzen, um in seine Musik einzudringen und sie in neue Dimensionen zu führen. Auf ihrem Debütalbum "Plastic Bamboo" gelingt ihnen das und mehr. Mit einem äußerst eklektischen Ansatz im Hinterkopf, wird es Songs geben, die den meisten bekannt sein werden: "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" und "Behind The Mask" vom Yellow Magic Orchestra, insbesondere. Und dann sind da noch die tieferen Stücke von Sakamotos Soloalben aus den frühen Achtzigern, die zwar weniger bekannt sind, aber dennoch dazu beigetragen haben, das Genre zu erweitern und zu bereichern. Mit einem äußerst eklektischen Ansatz führen sie eine abwechslungsreiche Auswahl seiner Musik in eine Richtung, in der Free Jazz auf Elektronik trifft, mit dem Gefühl von Freiheit und Ungebundenheit. Die Besetzung von Asynchrone besteht aus dem Gründer, dem Cellisten Clément Petit, dem Produzenten und Musiker Frédéric Soulard (verantwortlich für das preisgekrönte Album Victoires De La Musique" von Jeanne Added), dem Klarinettisten/Saxophonisten Hugues Mayot, der Flötistin Delphine Joussein, dem Pianisten Manuel Peskine und Vincent Taeger (Oumou Sangaré, Tony Allen) am Schlagzeug. Plastic Bamboo strotzt vor Lebendigkeit und Möglichkeiten, und es ist ein Album, das eher in die Zukunft gerichtet ist als eine Art düstere Lobeshymne. Es versucht, das musikalische Gespräch fortzusetzen, jetzt, da der Architekt nicht mehr unter uns weilt. Asynchrone spielt Sakamoto.

Asynchrone
is a collective born in 2021, which assembles musicians from the Parisian free jazz and electro scenes, to honour the music of late Japanese legend, Ryuichi Sakamoto. Making their debut with the release of the ‘Kling Klang’ EP in summer 2022, Asynchrone today releases a new single, a few months after Sakamoto’s passing. ‘Plastic Bamboo’ is also the title track of Asynchrone's forthcoming debut album, due for release on September 29, 2023 via the Nø Førmat! label (Ballaké Sissoko, Oumou Sangaré). Asynchrone’s personnel is a link-up between cellist Clément Petit (Aloe Blacc), producer and musician Frédéric Soulard (who produced Jeanne Added’s Victoire De La Musique-winning album), clarinet/saxophone player Hugues Mayot, flautist Delphine Joussein, pianist Manuel Peskine, and Vincent Taeger (A.L.B.E.R.T.) on drums. Influenced by Sakamoto’s freedom, his mysticism, and his ability to draw inspiration from Debussy as much as from Kraftwerk, Asynchrone revisits his Homeric back catalogue with a breath of rebellious freedom and a communicative pleasure of playing. More than a tribute to a frozen work, it is a tribute to creative freedom.
