Star Wars. Die Geisha. Schindlers Liste. In einem fernen Land. E.T.. Die Liste lässt sich beliebig fortsetzen: der legendäre Filmkomponist John Williams gilt seit Jahrzehnten als der meist gefeierte Filmkomponist aller Zeiten. Aber das Album John Williams Reimagined ist Williams, wie er noch nie zuvor gehört wurde.

Filmmusik Produzent Robert Townson hatte für dieses Projekt ein "Traumensemble" im Sinn: die Flötistin Sara Andon, die Cellistin Cécilia Tsan und den Pianisten Simone Pedroni. Er gab Pedroni den Auftrag für Transkriptionen, diese als Trio aufzunehmen und dem Komponisten zu schicken. Zu ihrer großen Freude genehmigte Williams das Projekt und gab damit dem Trio die Erlaubnis, das gesamte Set aufzunehmen und aufzuführen.

Die Auswahl umfasst mehr als ein halbes Jahrhundert - von Williams' mit dem Emmy ausgezeichneter Filmmusik für Jane Eyre von 1970, die Townson ursprünglich zu diesem Album inspirierte, bis hin zum Hauptthema von The Fabelmans von 2022, einer von mehr als zwei Dutzend Kollaborationen zwischen Williams und Spielberg. Aus dem Kanon der ikonischen Williams-Scores dieser Zeitspanne enthält das Album Ausschnitte aus Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban, A.I. Künstliche Intelligenz, Die Hexen von Eastwick, Jurassic Park, Die Reisen des Mr. Leary, Dracula, The Sugarland Express, Jane Eyre, Gefährten, Hook, Der Patriot und mehr, ganz zu schweigen von der Star Wars-Saga, Schindlers Liste und E.T...

2022, während der Aufnahme-Sitzungen in Los Angeles, lud John Williams das Trio ein, eine Auswahl der Arrangements für ihn privat in seinem Studio aufzuführen. Nach der Aufführung von "The Face of Pan" aus Hook sagte der Komponist tief bewegt: "Das ist eines meiner schönsten Geburtstagsgeschenke".
