Xavier Desandre Navarre has studied at the Aix en Provence conservatory. Afterwards he learned percussions with the Brasilian master Sylvio de Santana. It was the opening of the pandora box of the world's percussions and grooves. Then he studied rhythms and instruments from Cuba, Africa and middle east.
From since he has played and recorded worldwide with some famous musicians such as Gil Evans, Youn Sun Nah, Tania Maria, Michel Portal, Manu Dibango, Lars Danielsson, Leszek Mozdzer, Randy Brecker, Jacky Terrasson, Yaron Herman, among many others.

Xavier Desandre Navarre
French master percussionist, drummer and composer based in Paris. Xavier started out studying Classical percussion at the conservatory of Aix-en-Provence in 1975, and soon after began traveling around the world, studying the percussion traditions of Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean, Africa and middle east.
Over the years he has primarily been active in the fields of recording and live performances where he has worked with artists as diverse as Gil Evans, Youn Sun Nah, Michel Portal, Laurent Garnier, Randy Brecker, David Sanborn, Charlie Haden, Tania Maria, Nils-Petter Molvær, Jacky Terrasson, Manu Dibango …
His most notable film soundtrack work can be heard in the Luc Besson film Leon (The Professional) and the forthcoming new Menno Meyjes film Manolete starring Adrien Brody and Penelope Cruz.
