French master percussionist, drummer and composer based in Paris. Xavier started out studying Classical percussion at the conservatory of Aix-en-Provence in 1975, and soon after began traveling around the world, studying the percussion traditions of Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean, Africa and middle east.

Over the years he has primarily been active in the fields of recording and live performances where he has worked with artists as diverse as Gil Evans, Youn Sun Nah, Michel Portal, Laurent Garnier, Randy Brecker, David Sanborn, Charlie Haden, Tania Maria, Nils-Petter Molvær, Jacky Terrasson, Manu Dibango …

His most notable film soundtrack work can be heard in the Luc Besson film Leon (The Professional) and the forthcoming new Menno Meyjes film Manolete starring Adrien Brody and Penelope Cruz.
