Info for Violets Are Red, Roses Are Blue And Dichotomy

VIOLETS ARE RED, ROSES ARE BLUE AND DICHOTOMY, is FOREST POOKY's second album, a good ten years after the first one, not counting several side steps, cover albums, EPs and other split singles. We discover the evidence of his pop influences with a range of tracks that melodically reference the Beach Boys or the Beatles, while carrying the rhythmic energy of a Rancid or a Hot Water Music. The lyrics are sometimes satirical, sometimes naive, and at other times, the songwriter's gentle rage is transpiring with humour. The track If I Get Sick of It, for example, goes against the romantic image of artists who proclaim "On the road until the end! - On the road until the end'', saying that the day he gets sick of it, he will stop. A first single illustrated by a video clip with strong vocals and served, like those that follow and the album itself, by the beautiful visuals signed by Roxane Rastrelli. Or Marvellous, which humorously recounts how awkwardly he managed when he first met his sweetheart on Reunion Island. And let's not forget Jojo, in which he gently settles his score with the social network trolls. FOREST POOKY took his time to make VIOLETS ARE RED, ROSES ARE BLUE AND DICHOTOMY a record in his own image, touching, funny, moving sometimes, energetic often, liberating why not, always delightful. A bit of teenage energy in a "mature record"? Dichotomy we said!

Forest Pooky

Forest Pooky
has been singing, writing songs and performing for over 15 years. Born from the French punk rock scene, his commitment to music grew during exponentially and to the point where the man, constantly on the road, has been sometimes referred to as a “Dharma Bum”. Playing his songs wherever, and to whoever is willing to listen.

Forest has shared the stage with Evan Dando (the Lemonheads), Frank Turner, Joey Cape (Lagwagon), Kepi Ghoulie (Groovie Ghoulies), Peter “Blackie”Black (the Hard Ons)…etc.

This year, with the release of his new EP “We´re just killing time before we die” (Kicking Records), he delivers a down to earth, but pretty positive message : If we´re just killing time out here, let´s have it exciting and enjoy as much as we can.

Putting his bands Sons of Buddha, Supermunk and Napoleon Solo to rest, Forest will be visiting 20 countries on 4 different continents in 6 months spreading and sharing his love for the art.

This album contains no booklet.
