Info for Trio Aperto

Harp, alphorn, transverse flute. The line-up is uncommon and makes you prick your ears up. As well as the unique repertoire presented by Trio Aperto. The natural sound of the alphorn with its curious seventh and eleventh harmonics meets the equally tempered tune of the harp and join them together through the flute.

Trio Aperto reinterprets classical works and connects them with rediscovered musical curiosities and lyrical sounds of Alpine countries. Moreover, new works were created only for the trio with the cooperation of international composers as David Babcock, Pascal Jugy, Siegmund Schmidt and Hans-Jürg Sommer.

Characteristic of the trio are its improvisations. The talent of the three musicians finds its approval in the reviews: “pronounced enthusiasm has generated the improvisations, in which the three musicians gave us the proof of their high class.”

Johannes Hustedt, flute
Chai Min Werner, alp horn
Angela Holzschuh, harp

Trio Aperto
A spark immediately ignited when the paths of three different musician personalities crossed: the internationally active concert harpist Angela Holzschuh, also familiar with music from classic to folk, the much sought-after flutist Johannes Hustedt, a guest at renowned music festivals on all continents, and his wife, Chai Min Werner, who found her way to professional alphorn-playing via unconventional paths.

Audiences and concert organisers were immediately thrilled by the wonderful sound of this unique trio and by their openness for new musical experiences. The three members of the Trio Aperto have been true shooting stars ever since: they have received numerous invitations to concert series and festivals in Germany and abroad, including, for example, performances at the 10th anniversary of the ADAMS International Flute Festival in the Netherlands in 2015. In addition, the Trio Aperto initiates projects in music mediation for all ages, as well as seminars for the development of the personality. New works for the Trio have already been created in cooperation with international composers including David Babcock, Pascal Jugy, Siegmund Schmidt and Hans-Jürg Sommer.

It is a delight to hear and see the Trio Aperto - the way they carry off listeners into the world of great Western music, where rediscoveries of precious musical rarities and agreeable Alpine sounds meet at a crossroads. Let yourself be enchanted by the Trio Aperto as well!
