Nearly a decade after the release of their groundbreaking debut, "The Sickness," Disturbed have become one of the most respected bands in the hard-rock universe thanks not only to pummeling riffs and jackhammer beats but passionate insights into our troubled times. Three platinum-plus albums - "Believe" and "Ten Thousand Fists," charted #1 - have led to "Indestructible," the group's darkest, angriest outing yet.
"The title (invincible) sounds like war-mongering US military men who still believe they can master the Iraq conflict with high-tech weapons and tens of thousands of soldiers. Disturbed and singer David Draiman don't think so - even if the title track and the following "Inside the fire" sound suspiciously like approval. Especially in view of lyrics like "Every broken enemy will know: I'm indestructible - master of war." And it is important to remember that Draiman merely slips into roles, playing the ice-cold killer, the insane warlord, the wounded soldier or the devil himself, questioning everything and everyone and creating an oppressive picture of the present day. Just so that even the last person understands how much the cart is stuck in the barn. The rhythm section around Dan Donegan (guitar, keyboards), Mike Wengren (drums) and John Moyer (bass) underpins this with a metallic, gloomy sound that is much heavier and rougher than on the three previous albums and even turns into really fast, anthemic metal in "Divide" and "Facade"."
