Info for Hida Takayama Virtuoso Orchestra Concert 2024

Once a year, we invite you to join us for a musical experience as special as the Tanabata Star Festival.

The Hida Takayama Virtuoso Orchestra Concert is a once-a-year concert like the Star Festival. We are very happy and grateful for the efforts of the local people who prepare the concert with great care and attention. The beautiful scenery, air and delicious food in Hida Takayama have certainly attracted the performers to come back next year, and we all look forward to performing in Hida Takayama. However, we do not come just for the sightseeing or the gourmet food, but also for the musical enjoyment, and we are all enthusiastic about it. One of the reasons for this is the sound of the Hida Art Hall at the Hida World Culture Centre. The hall's acoustics were excellent from the start, and we were all excited to see how it would develop. As expected, the sound has improved year by year, and it is a pleasure to see the changes every year. The feeling of playing surrounded by the pleasant echoes coming from the whole space of a hall full of guests is bliss. Also, as there is no conductor in this orchestra, each player works hard, listens to each other's sounds and breathes together to create music. So friends and family.

The sound has a warm feel to it. The program also includes high-level pieces and pieces that are rarely performed in concerts, which is very stimulating for the performers. This year's 19th concert features three pieces from the Classical and Romantic schools, selected with the overall flow in mind. The programme, which begins with Mozart's heavenly but difficult to play and ends with Schumann's magnificent Symphony No. 2, which contains all human emotions, is a challenge that we are very much looking forward to. Please come and experience the music with us. This orchestra concert is a miracle that would not be possible without the climate of Hida Takayama and your love. We believe that the live sound of classical music, which can only be experienced at that time and place, will surely give you strength, and we are also empowered when we see the audience listening and being moved by the music. A concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event in which the hall, the audience and the musicians all come together as one. We hope to share a wonderful musical space with you and to receive a big round of applause at the end of the concert.
