Despite the title, This is NOT the end is in fact the last release from legendary rock in opposition band Present, as founder and composer Roger Trigaux died during the recording process. Present's music is an impressive blend of heavy rock with classical and Zeuhl influences. The compositions, all penned by Trigaux, utilise repetition, complex counterpoint, intricate interplay between instruments, rapidly changing time signatures and a strong instrumental attack. The end result is dazzlingly precise works with syncopated instruments that seem to come from different angles but ultimately function as a cohesive whole.
