Info for Michel:Leçons de Ténèbres
Joseph Michel was in his time, in the 18th century, a famous composer, music teacher of “La Sainte Chapelle de Dijon”. He was also a contemporary of Jean-Philippe Rameau who officiated at Notre Dame as organist in the same city. Most of his compositions burned during the fire of his printery in 1735, and he died early the following year.
However, we inherited his” Leçon des Ténebres” and a Miserere, which are the last works of this kind before it disappears from the liturgy. Hervé Lamy and his excellent musicians have worked here to rediscover the spirit and deliver all the beauty of those works.
Hervé Lamy, Tenor
Huguette Gremy-Chauliac, Harpsichord
