Info for 12 Keys No Rehearsal

12 Keys no Rehearsal is an ode to improvisation and the unexpected. The excellent Evan Megaro and Rafael de Sousa came together in the studio for sublime moments of intense musical exchanges, bringing a unique perspective of piano and acoustic bass to Jazz standards, each with a different tone.

Evan Megaro, piano
Rafael de Sousa, double bass

Evan Alexander Megaro
has a degree in jazz studies from Jersey City State University, USA, and during his studies he did an exchange semester at Kingston University's music school in London, England. The pianist arrived in Brazil in 2010, when he began a postgraduate course in Interpretative Practices at UFRJ. He is currently studying for a doctorate in Performance at UFMG.

Rafael de Sousa
began his musical life at the age of 9, under the influence of his father, playing in religious contexts. At the age of 10, he got to know the electric double bass and fell in love with its sound. Although he has always been curious about the whole musical universe and its instruments, his identification with the double bass has remained to this day.

In 2015, he began his more in-depth studies of electric double bass at the Brasilia School of Music with Professor Fernando Nantra, and also with Professor Rodrigo Salgado, graduating in 2019 from Professor Oswaldo Amorim's class. Having been performing professionally since 2013, he has performed in a variety of styles, including pop/rock, gospel, jazz, MPB, sertanejo, dances and instrumentals, as well as artists such as Orlando Morais, Margareth Menezes, Seu Jorge, Ellen Oléria, Georgia W. Alô, Alberto Salgado, Cissa Paz (USA), Felipe Continentino (BH), Bruno Gafanhoto (RJ), Salomão Soares (SP), Maíra Freitas (RJ), Gustavo Figueiredo (BH), Flávio Silva, Juninho di Sousa, Matheus Donato, Marcos Santos, Moisés Alves, Thanise Silva, Janis Steprans (CAN) and Branford Marsalis (USA).
