Info for Time Is A Flower

Three years and two EPs into their short but ascendant career, Telenova announce their debut album Time Is A Flower. The distinctive universe of Telenova - shadowy, sample driven alt-pop with prominent trip-hop and electronica influence, plus a touch of playful energy - is the design of lead vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Filipina-Australian Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists Edward Quinn and Joshua Moriarty.

Telenova is formed of Asian-Australian frontwoman Angeline Armstrong who combines her brilliance as a songwriter and filmmaker to form the magic you hear today, and Edward Quinn & Joshua Moriarty who are incredibly talented multi-instrumentalists and songwriters. The band were initially influenced by the likes of Karen O, Caroline Polachek, Portishead, Weyes Blood, Gorillaz, Radiohead and Lana Del Rey but pull together from different personal tastes which forms the eclectic sound on everything they do.

Joshua Moriarty, multi-instrumentalist, producer

Angeline Armstrong
is an award-winning Asian-Australian writer, director and musician. Angeline’s work is characterised by heightened cinematic worlds: colourful and striking. Drawing on her music, Angeline brings a lyrical approach to storytelling and character, crafting scenes that evoke emotion, intrigue and wonder.

Edward Quinn
One-half of critically acclaimed band Slum Sociable and one-third of cinematic indie trio Telenova, Edward Quinn is an accomplished, eclectic producer & songwriter based in Melbourne.

A versatile production style that encompasses trip hop, pop, rock and hip hop has seen Edward work with the likes of Dan Carey (Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg), Kim Moyes (The Presets, Northeast Party House) & Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I, Jungle Giants).

Joshua Moriarty
rontman of Miami Horror and one-third of Melbourne cinematic trio TELENOVA, has announced a headline show at The Brunswick Ballroom on Thursday 9 December to launch his new album, Melancholia, which will be released on Friday 19 November.

This comes alongside the release of his new single and video,'We're Coming Back'

With ‘We’re Coming Back’s release comes an elegant video, shot at Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne/Naarm by Tim Williams. Capturing the ambience of the beloved venue, the video sees Josh perform the track alongside TELENOVA's Angeline Armstrong and Natasha Newling from RAHAB.

Melancholia is a personal and introspective collection of songs, with Joshua’s vocals taking centre stage. Produced in Los Angeles by ARIA award-winning Tony Buchen (The Preatures, Smashing Pumpkins), it features a wide array of incredible guest musicians and session players. Including legendary drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, Roger Waters, Atoms For Peace), keyboard whizz John Carroll Kirby (Frank Ocean, Blood Orange, Solange), multi-instrumentalist Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear), double bassist Alan Hampton (Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper), Harpist Mary Lattimore (Kurt Vile, Sharon Van Etten, Thurston Moore) and plenty of other musicians of the highest calibre.

In addition to his many musical projects, Josh hosts the music podcast 'The Bottom Of It', where he's candidly interviewed members of Queens Of The Stone Age, DEVO, Jet, Lady Hawke, Methyl Ethel, Middle Kids, Empire Of The Sun and more.

In his life as a frontman Moriarty has graced the stages of Coachella, Live-Out Mexico City, Breakfast Colombia, Big Day Out, Groovin’ The Moo, Summadayze and collaborated and released music with Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear), Chris Cester (Jet), Peking Duk, Dhani Harrison, Kimbra, I Know Leopard and Slum Sociable.
