Akane Sakai
was born in Nagoya (Japan) and studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music and at the Lemmensinstituut in Belgium - with Midori Miura, Alan Weiss, Lilya Zilberstein and Pavel Gililov. Akane Sakai is a Young Artist Development laureate of the Japanese Ministry of Culture and has performed with renowned orchestras such as Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra della Svizzera Italian and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She is a passionate chamber musician and counts Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Evgeni Bozhanov and Akiko Suwanai among her musical partners. Since 2018, she has been the artistic planner of the Martha Argerich Festival of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
