Info for Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez - Others: Works

This suite made him world-famous. With Iberia, Albéniz invented modern Spanish music. The most extended piece of the suite, El Corpus en Sevilla or Fête-Dieu à Seville, admired by Debussy and others is a genuinely challenging, original and inspired piano music. It is orchestral in scale and has been successfully orchestrated by the Spanish conductor, and Composer Enrique Fernandez Arbus. It is to this day frequently played.

In Andalusian streets and before their magnificent Cathedral, the Spanish celebrate their national festival Corpus Christi. Here Albeniz captures the noise of the folks, the procession, the bells and the superb atmosphere with remarkable sensitivity, superimposing the many sounds to be heard on this festive day before Eastern.
