Info for Istiklaliya

A stunningly original & unique album from an international trio of classically trained musicians - the band’s 2nd full-length release is an audacious blend of contemporary classical, electro & improvised post rock.

with 2 grand pianos joined by drums on stage, Aufgang’s live show switches on & sweeps away everything in its path. the recording of the album favored live takes to post-production editing, capturing the raw alchemy of the trio on stage. the respective influences of the 3 musicians make way for a whole new sound, unclassifiable, contemporary and incredibly striking.

Aufgang
The tale of Aufgang starts with the new century in the star city of the New World. Rami Khalifé and Francesco Tristano met in New York where they were studying at the prestigious Juilliard School. Being almost as assiduous in clubbing than studies, the two began a affair with electronic music. Things started shaping-up when Aymeric Westrich sealed their union under the auspices of a attraction for experimentation. Aufgang is right between electro and classical music. They are two pianists and one drummer (drummer for Phoenix and Cassius). Listening to Aufgang collectively or individually, on a dancefloor or in a living-room is an ever evolving experience: a track can go through many different stages, having many different layers.
